UFWT 201 - Western Intellectual Tradition III: Reformation, Revolution, and Enlightenment (4)


Third in a four-semester sequence, this interdisciplinary seminar examines how revolutions in faith, science, and philosophy shaped the development of the Western intellectual tradition. Through the works of Luther, Galileo, Shakespeare, Descartes, Wollstonecraft and others, students will discover how the Reformation, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment offered new ways of thinking about the nature of authority. Satisfies the humanities requirement for students majoring in the following college/schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, School of the Arts; in the following departments: Human Development & Family Life Education, Kinesiology, Nutrition &  Dietetics; and in the following majors: ESEC, pre-pharmacy (fulfills one liberal arts requirement). Students pursuing other majors within the School of Education should contact their academic advisor for equivalency information. Prereqs: UFWT 101  and UFWT 102 . Offered: Fall.
