FINC 440 - Financial Technologies/Insurance Technologies (3)

This course is designed to expose students to the rapid innovation in and disruption from financial technologies (FinTech) such as blockchain/distributed ledger technology (DLT), virtual/crypto currencies, smart contracts, artificial intelligence (AI), the internet-of-things (IoT), and machine learning (ML). The rapid onset of these new technologies begs many questions for academic inquiry. How are these innovations impacting the world of finance? How is the regulatory environment adapting to these new innovations? How are financial institutions and financial markets adapting/adopting/responding to these new innovations? What is the impact on peer-to-peer (P2P) payments and lending? How do these technologies extend to other industries such as healthcare (HealthTech), education (EdTech), transportation and logistics (SupplychainTech), real estate (RETech), insurance (InsureTech), and others.
