EDUC 200 - Foundations of Education (4) This course is designed to guide prospective teacher education candidates in developing insight into contemporary educational issues. Students will examine philosophical and historical trends in education. This course is designed to develop a deep level of reflectiveness about the central issues it examines: the teacher as a moral role model who may experience the moral tension between caring and fairness in teaching, school reform, equality of opportunity, and student diversity, especially cultural diversity in the backgrounds of students. A field experience component is embedded. This course is a prerequisite for all undergraduate education courses. Offered: Fall and Spring.
