Fast-Track Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (BS/MSSLP)

The fast-track master of science in speech-language pathology (BS/MSSLP) provides an opportunity for qualified students to complete a bachelor of science and the MSSLP in five years instead of the six-year traditional path. Students who are accepted into the fast-track program complete undergraduate courses in their first three years and begin graduate coursework in the fall following their junior year.

Year 4, Fall: 16 Credits

  • SLPA 501 - Intro to Clinical Practicum (1)
  • SLPA 503 - Neuroscience for Speech Language Pathologists (3)
  • SLPA 504 - Research Methods in Speech Language Pathology (3)
  • SLPA 506 - Language Disorders: Birth through Age 5 (3)
  • SLPA 509 - Articulation and Phonological Disorders (3)
  • SLPA 511 - Advanced Diagnostics: Clinical Writing, Critical Thinking, and Assessment Decisions (3)

Year 4, Spring: 14 Credits

  • SLPA 502 - Clinical Practicum I (2)
  • SLPA 507 - Autism Spectrum Disorders (3)
  • SLPA 508 - School Age Language and Literacy Disorders (3)
  • SLPA 512 - Counseling Strategies in Fluency and Communication Disorders (3)
  • SLPA 608 - Dysphagia in Adults (3)

Year 4, Summer: 10 Credits

  • SLPA 601 - Clinical Practicum II (1)
  • SLPA 604 - Evaluation and Treatment of Aphasia in Adults (3)
  • SLPA 609 - Cognitive-Communicative Disorders in Adults (3)
    PLUS Elective Course A (choose one from the following)
    • SLPA 614 - Augmentative and Alternative Communication (3) or
    • SLPA 619 - Instrumentation in Speech-Language Pathology (3) or
    • SLPA 699 - Mentored Research (1-4) (take for 3 credits)

Year 5, Fall: 9 Credits

  • SLPA 602 - Clinical Practicum III (3)
  • SLPA 606 - Motor Speech Disorders (3)
  • SLPA 616 - Voice Disorders across the Lifespan (3)

Year 5, Spring: 9 Credits

  • SLPA 603 - Clinical Practicum IV (3)
  • SLPA 624 - Diagnostics II: Advanced Diagnostics Skills (3)
    PLUS Elective Course B (choose one from the following)
    • SLPA 618 - Pediatric Dysphagia (3) or
    • SLPA 620 - Faith and Ethics in the Practice of SLP (3) or
    • SLPA 622 - Seminar in Multicultural Perspectives in Speech-Language Pathology (3)
