SLPA 614 - Augmentative and Alternative Communication (3)

The overall area of “Communication Modalities” and access to communication by all individuals will be the focus of this course. Student participants will gain knowledge and skill related to the needs of individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and the process of selecting and implementing AAC systems for children and adults. The first section of the course concerns the basic processes of AAC: communication messages, symbols, alternative access, assessment and intervention planning. Offered: Summer.
