EDUC 321 - Foundations and Applications of Effective Planning and Instruction (3) This course is designed for elementary, special education, and early childhood education majors focused on a P-6 teaching, emphasizing instructional design and the application of effective instructional strategies. The course provides pre-service teachers with foundational knowledge and practical skills for intentional planning, teaching and professional teaching responsibilities. It aims to deepen prospective teachers’ understanding of individual learner differences and how to adapt strategies and resources to improve student understanding. The course addresses the variation in culture, language, and ability among communities of learners, emphasizing the teacher’s role in responding to students’ needs to positively impact learning. Candidates are encouraged to develop instructional strategies and resources that support informed decision-making to maximize each learner’s potential. EDUC 321 equips future educators to manage the complexities of instructional planning and implementation, combining theoretical insights with hands-on experience. Coursework is intentionally designed to prepare candidates to create diverse and engaging learning environments that support learner growth and development. Prereq: EDUC 200 . Co-req: EDUC 320 .
