LAW 701 - Cumberland Parole Project Clinic (3 or 4)

This course is a legal clinic partnering with Redemption Earned. In the clinic, students will represent clients of Redemption Earned who are prisoners seeking parole and/or access to work release. Students will learn the process for parole and will (1) screen clients who seek parole; (2) review records of the Department of Corrections to determine whether a prisoner poses a risk to the public; (3) plan re-entry services for potential parolees; and (4) prepare for and argue parole cases before the Alabama Parole Board. In addition, students will assist Redemption Earned with its WIN Project by removing detainers and holds that are keeping prisoners from entering the work-release program.
