LAW 675 - Sports Law: Professional Sports (2) The study of sports law is an interdisciplinary exercise. Sports Law: Professional Sports incorporates aspects of contract, antitrust, labor, constitutional, torts, administrative and criminal law. The study of sports law as it relates to amateur, collegiate, and Olympic sports incorporates aspects of each of these unique and diverse practice areas (as well). However, the regulation of professional sports is disproportionately focused upon revenue distribution between labor and management. The legal history of free agency is a vital component of the conflict between labor and management. Furthermore, the historical progression of free agency is directly linked to the increased popularity and financial expansion of professional sports leagues worldwide. Offered: Fall and Spring, as needed.
