ENVM 511 - Advanced GIS for Environmental Applications (3) Building upon the foundational principles of GIS in ENVM 509 , this course guides students in applications of advanced GIS techniques and methodologies, and will leverage other geospatial technologies including remote sensing, geovisualization, and image processing. Students will learn through weekly hand-on GIS assignments, online discussions with peers of geospatial applications from published environmental studies, and completion of an independently conducted final project. Students will be required to collect and analyze real-world datasets. Topics may include spatial overlay and map algebra, spatial statistics, interpretation of satellite imagery, and application of other spatial modeling techniques. Prereq: ENVM 509 . Offered: Every semester.
