SOWK 502 - Social Work Practice I: Individuals and Families (3) This course provides students with an overview of social work practice and introduces students to the Generalist Intervention Model (GIM) (Kirst-Ashman and Hull, 2009), a planned change model that divides direct social work practice into seven categories or stages: (1) Engagement, (2) Assessment, (3) Planning, (4) Implementation, (5) Evaluation, (6) Termination, (7) Follow up. The Practice I course applies the GIM to social work practice with individual clients and families. Offered Fall.
