LAW 618 - Civil Rights (3) An advanced constitutional and statutory study of the non-criminal statutes which Congress has enacted to protect civil rights in America. The course addresses the statutes passed during the Reconstruction period following the Civil War and comprehensively covers modern legislation and the constitutional interpretation and constitutional basis for civil rights protection, including the contemporary Supreme Court’s role in the civil rights revolution. Selected state statutes and constitutional provisions will also be considered. Prereq: Constitutional Law I (LAW 522 ).
