Dietetics is a dynamic profession offering many different opportunities for practice. Today’s dietetic professionals pursue careers in health care, education, and research. They work in business, industry, public relations, and mass media. Their services are also used in government agencies, restaurant management, corporate and sports wellness programs, food companies, and private practice. The Samford Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Students seeking a degree in NUTR will be reviewed before their junior year (upon completion of 60 credits of college work). A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 to 3.00 is recommended to continue since entrance into a dietetic internship or AP4 program following graduation usually requires a 3.00 GPA. Students transferring into the program will be evaluated on their SAT/ACT score, as well as their cumulative GPA.
