Disability, Health, and Physical Activity Minor
|

The disability, health, and physical activity minor provides an interdisciplinary framework for understanding the experiences of people with disabilities across the lifespan. It will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience regarding disability in society today. Students will gain knowledge of laws, education, activities of daily living, and fitness for individuals with disabilities. The curriculum fosters critical thinking about advocacy, inclusion, and accessibility while encouraging students to practice empathy, humility, and service in their work with individuals with disabilities. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared for further professional development, including certificate options from national organizations such as the American College of Sports Medicine’s Inclusive Fitness Trainer certificate. Prereq: A minimum overall GPA of 2.50.
