The health information management (HIM) program is designed to prepare students to manage patient and provider data. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of medical, administrative, ethical, and legal requirements and standards related to healthcare delivery, and the privacy of protected patient information. Health information professionals serve as a critical link between care providers, payers, and patients by managing patient health information, administering computer information systems, and collecting and analyzing patient data. The degree allows graduates to work in a variety of settings including hospitals, consulting companies, government entities, ambulatory care clinics, product vendors, and pharmaceutical companies.
