Noncredit Program Overview

The English Language Learning Institute (ELLI) at Samford University offers a concentrated English language non-degree curriculum designed to help non-native English speakers develop the English skills needed to achieve success in U.S. academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ELLI program includes four levels of classes in each of the four language skills: Grammar, Listening/Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The ELLI program prepares students to matriculate into Samford University undergraduate and graduate programs.

  1. IEP Bridge:The Bridge track allows international students to develop their academic English skills in order to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies at Samford. Students study English full-time.
  2. IEP Certificate: The certificate track is designed to help students who desire to simply develop and sharpen their English skills. Students may choose to study as full-time or part-time students.
  3. IEP Transient: Our transient track allows students the opportunity to study in an intensive English environment for academic purposes, in order to pursue further studies at any U.S. institution.
