SOCI 331 - Sociology of Aging(4) Study of the social, psychological, and biological changes that occur with aging, and how these changes affect interactions between older people and their family, friends, home, community, and society. This multidisciplinary approach, known as gerontology, addresses such issues as demography of aging, social theories of aging, social consequences of biological and psychological changes, social supports, living arrangements, economic status, populations at risk, and social policies. Course includes opportunities to discuss these issues with professionals who provide services for older people. Prereq: SOCI 100 or permission of department chair.
