Introduction to the laws and regulations affecting the employment relationship. Federal and state laws that affect the employer-employee relationship, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII); the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA); the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 (PDA); the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA); the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA); the Alabama Age Discrimination in Employment Act (AADEA); Alabama Workers’ Compensation Law; and H.B. 56 (Alabama’s immigration law) will be explored in depth.
