MATH 214 - Math I: Geometry, Measurement and Data Analysis for Elementary Teachers (3)

This course examines the K-6 mathematics content outlined in the Alabama Course of Study (ALCOS), with an emphasis on both content knowledge and pedagogical approaches. Topics include fundamental geometric concepts such as shapes, their attributes, and spatial reasoning; measurement principles, including length, area, volume, and time; and foundational skills in data collection, representation, and interpretation. Students will explore effective instructional strategies, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to support student learning. Additionally, the course emphasizes methods for fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and connections between geometry, measurement, and data analysis in the elementary classroom.
