EDUC 541 - Reading Difficulties: Diagnosis and Intervention (3) This course is designed for new graduate-level teacher candidates who have limited experience in providing methods to diagnose, and strategies to intervene with, children who are exhibiting reading problems. Emphasis is placed on specific skills deficits that may occur in early literacy development, phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension skills. These skills parallel the instructional sequence that occurs with most major commercial reading programs used in many K-6 schools. Offered: Summer.
