SOWK 502 - Social Work Practice I: Individuals and Families (3) This course provides students with an overview of social work practice and introduces students to the Generalist Intervention Model (GIM) (Kirst-Ashman and Hull, 2009), a planned change model that divides direct social work practice into seven categories or stages: 1) Engagement, 2) Assessment, 3) Planning, 4) Implementation, 5) Evaluation, 6) Termination, 7) Follow up. The Practice I course applies the GIM to social work practice with individual clients and families. Offered Fall.
