EDUC 500 - Teaching Math in Today’s Elementary Classroom (3)


This course is designed to provide the elementary teacher opportunities to deepen math knowledge, examine effective instructional strategies, conduct action research to inform instructional decisions, and demonstrate school leadership in the area of mathematics. Candidates will gain insight into relevant mathematical concepts and principles, the impact of real-life mathematical contexts and accompanying models, and the role of choosing and developing rich mathematical tasks to develop the necessary habits of mind for mathematical success (de Lange, 2003).
